Life can be challenging and, even with our best efforts, we can have difficulty sorting through our own challenges. Let us help. Sometimes, having an impartial listener can help. Whether you're anxious, depressed or trying to sort through relationship difficulties, our therapists are trained to give you our full attention and help you find the solutions that work for you.

We offer the options of in-person therapy, virtual counseling or telephone sessions to current and new clients. (Our virtual services are offered through HIPPA compliant and encrypted services. This option involves new clients filling out intake forms--links on first page of this site--and either faxing them to 817-275-3720 or emailing them to our office at centerstaff@hotmail.com. Arrangement of payment method needs to be made with our office and we are glad to file insurance claims when appropriate.)

Credit cards are also accepted. All our therapists are licensed in the state of Texas.

“I GET WHAT YOU’RE SAYING.”

I’ve written many blogs about the importance of communication and of listening to your mate, but even when you try your best to listen, it’s not always seen that way. Just ask your partner. So, I thought I’d break this down into some small, vital chunks. When you and your mate disagree on something—money, sex, […]

TRYING TO FORGET

We humans have amazing minds, but pretending trauma or abuse didn’t happen, doesn’t erase the impact. It’s understandable that we totally want to forget these ugly things happened, particularly because victims often blame themselves. Even when professionals insist they are absolutely not responsible for the horrible things they suffered, victims continue to feel they should have done […]

NOT ALL MOTHERS ARE LOVING

“When I was 18 my mother went to prison and I took custody of my younger sisters. I tried to show them the right way to live–working, doing the right thing, staying out of trouble and being contributing members of society. We lived together for 6 years. Eventually Mother got out and the girls went back […]

TOO KIND TO KIDS?

You love them and you want to give your kids everything, but this may be robbing them of the incentive they need to grow. Few things light parents up more than giving their kids gifts that send the kid into sobbing ecstasy. The game system they’ve been begging for or the new phone they keep […]

YOUNG ADULTS–PROPPING, NOT STEERING

The transition from childhood to adulthood is scary and the fact that we parents have given our children so much, only complicates things. Of course we want to give them stuff. After all, we have stuff. But kids now struggle more than ever to believe in themselves. The hard question for adults–is how much to […]

AFFORDABLE, LOW COST COUNSELING

When dealing with relationship problems or struggling with depression and anxiety, talking to a counselor can help. Even now that more people have catastrophic insurance coverage, huge deductibles can make it hard to fit counseling into your budget. Because of these very real challenges, we offer low cost counseling on a sliding scale, basing your fee on […]

JUST LISTEN…

Listening doesn’t mean offering your opinion, but that’s what most of us do. When clients tell me they’ve listened to their mates or children and then told them what to do, I know the mate or child probably didn’t feel heard at all. Clients tell me all the time about their frustration in trying to sort […]

SELF-CONSCIOUS?

Guess what? Most people don’t even notice your screw ups, your non-matching socks and your awkward pauses. This can be very hard to believe, but the truth is that most other folk are so caught up in their own stuff, they don’t generally notice yours. While there may have been a handful of beautiful people […]
